AI search optimization for clinics that want to be recommended, without the hype.
I'm Muhammad Haseeb Sheikh, a medical SEO specialist. Patients now ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews which clinic to see. I make sure the answers can find your practice, trust it and describe it accurately, using the same foundations that took an allergy clinic from 7,650 to 48,200 organic clicks in six months.
No AI placement is guaranteed by anyone, including me. What I can do is fix the things AI answers rely on, and show you each month whether they mention you.

What is AI search optimization for medical practices?
AI search optimization for medical practices, also called generative engine optimization or GEO, is the work of making a clinic easy for AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews to find, trust and recommend. Muhammad Haseeb Sheikh, a medical SEO specialist, does it by strengthening what those answers draw on: a site Google can index, clear answer-first pages, consistent practice details, credible clinicians, reviews and mentions elsewhere on the web.
Why it matters
Do patients really use ChatGPT and AI Overviews to choose a clinic?
A growing share do. Pew Research Center found in 2026 that 34% of US adults use AI chatbots for health information, and 15% use them to help decide whether to see a doctor.
Those people still need a practice at the end of the conversation. When they ask for one near them, the assistant names a few, and the clinics it can’t find or can’t verify simply aren’t in the answer. The source is Pew Research Center’s 2026 study.
How it works
How do AI assistants decide which clinics to recommend?
They draw on the web: pages search engines have indexed, business listings, reviews and what other sites say about you. A practice that is well indexed, clearly described and consistently mentioned is easier for an assistant to find and repeat.
Being in the index
Google says a page can appear in AI Overviews if it is indexed and eligible to show with a snippet. If Google can’t index a page, its AI features can’t use it either.
Answers that are easy to lift
Pages that answer a patient’s question in the first sentence or two give an assistant a clean passage to quote.
Facts that agree everywhere
Your name, address, phone, services and hours matching across your site, Business Profile and directories make your practice easy to identify.
Signals of trust
Named clinicians with credentials, genuine reviews and mentions on other reputable sites help an answer treat your practice as a safe recommendation.
These are the same signals Google calls E-E-A-T; my guide to E-E-A-T for medical websites shows how a clinic makes them visible.
Google’s own guidance on AI features and your website says there are no additional technical requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, and no special structured data to add.
AI search and SEO
Is AI search optimization different from SEO for a clinic?
Mostly it is SEO done properly, with a few additions. The foundations are the same; what changes is how answers are written, how consistent your details are across the web, and how you measure what AI assistants say.
- The same: indexing, pages for real patient questions, local signals, clinician credibility and reviews.
- More important for AI: answer-first writing, consistent practice facts everywhere, and mentions of your practice on other sites.
- New: checking what ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and AI Overviews actually say about you, and tracking visits they send.
Generative engine optimization for healthcare is the same idea under another name. That is why AI search work sits on top of my medical SEO service for clinics, rather than replacing it.
The service
What does AI search optimization for a clinic include?
Six pieces of work, in the order your practice needs them. It starts with finding out what AI assistants say about you today.
An AI visibility check
The questions your patients ask, put to ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google, recording whether your practice is named and how.
Indexing and access
Making sure every important page can be crawled, indexed and shown with a snippet, the one thing Google requires.
Answer-first pages
Service and condition pages that answer the patient’s question at the top, reviewed by your clinicians before they go live.
One consistent practice identity
Name, address, phone, services and hours made identical across your site, Business Profile and directories.
Credibility AI can see
Clinician pages with credentials, a steady flow of reviews, and genuine mentions on local and medical sites.
Measurement
A monthly re-check of the same questions, plus visits from AI assistants tracked in GA4, reported in plain language.
What I won’t sell you
Which AI search tactics don’t work for clinics?
Anything that promises placement or relies on special files. Google says no extra technical setup or special structured data is needed for its AI features, and no one controls what an assistant says.
- Guaranteed AI recommendations. Nobody can promise that ChatGPT or Google will name your clinic. Anyone who does is guessing.
- “AI schema” packages. Structured data helps search engines understand a page, but Google says no special markup is needed for AI Overviews.
- An llms.txt file as a fix. This site has one, and it does no harm, but treat it as a convenience, not a lever for being recommended.
- Unreviewed AI-written medical pages. Health content has to be accurate. Your clinicians review anything clinical before it goes live.
Measurement
How do you know if AI assistants are mentioning your clinic?
Two ways: ask them, and count the visits they send. A fixed set of patient questions is checked each month across the main assistants, and GA4 shows visits referred from sites such as chatgpt.com and perplexity.ai.
Visits from Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode are included in your Search Console reports with the rest of your Google search traffic. For the wider set of numbers worth watching, see the SEO metrics a medical practice should track.
Timeline
How long does it take for a clinic to show up in AI answers?
There is no fixed timeline, because AI answers change with every model and every question. The foundations behave like SEO: fixes can show in weeks, and stronger visibility usually builds over three to six months.
A free call or diagnostic
We look at your site and your market, and you get the one thing holding you back, in search and in AI answers.
A baseline of AI answers
Before changing anything, the patient questions are checked so you can see the before and after.
Fixes in order, reported monthly
Work follows the five phases of the method, with AI mentions, AI referrals and organic clicks reported each month.
Cost
How much does AI search optimization cost for a clinic?
It depends on how much of the foundation is already in place, so I scope it after the free diagnostic. You see the plan and the price before anything is agreed.
A clinic with a sound site and few reviews needs different work from one Google can barely index. A package priced the same for both means one of them pays for work it doesn’t need.
Why me
Why work with Muhammad Haseeb Sheikh on AI search for your clinic?
Because AI visibility rests on search foundations I have already built for practices, and because I’ll tell you what works and what doesn’t instead of selling a package.
